About IMPACT 11

IMPACT – International Multi-disciplinary Printmaking, Artists, Concepts and Techniques – is one of the largest professional conferences dedicated specifically to printmaking. It was first held in 1999, by The Centre for Fine Print Research at the University of the West of England.

Since 2009, Hong Kong Open Printshop has attended the IMPACT conferences, meeting friends and gaining experience. After years of planning, IMPACT 11 was originally scheduled to be held at major cultural venues around the city of Hong Kong. However, as the world continues to face the unprecedented challenge of the pandemic, current travel restrictions and gathering ban make face-to-face conferences impossible to happen.

It is a time of uncertainty, but also of possibility. As the world adjusts to a new normal, there is no better moment to reimagine a virtual setting for IMPACT 11. Online IMPACT 11 will bring together thought-provoking thesis presentations and seminars from art communitie

About HKOP

Founded in 2000, Hong Kong Open Printshop (HKOP) is Hong Kong’s first non-profit open printshop run by artists. In 2012, HKOP registered as a charitable organisation governed by the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and operated by a small, professional team.

HKOP is dedicated to promoting graphic art, encouraging international cultural exchange, enhancing quality and professional standard in artistic expression, and giving back to the community by preserving local print art culture.

Programmes

During IMPACT 11, we will unpack more than a hundred years of local printmaking history through exhibitions, workshops, thesis presentations and seminars. The conference will also serve as a platform where local and international graphic art lovers, scholars, printmakers and the public come together to explore, encounter and exchange ideas.
This time, while preparing this international conference, IMPACT 11 has received over 500 submissions from 39 countries on 6 Themes:

Presentations for academic papers should be limited to 20 minutes and approximately 2,000 words for print. For the proposal submission, please submit the following:

  1. A 300-word abstract

  2. Up to 5 images to support your submission (if relevant)

  3. A 100-word biography

  4. A headshot of yourself
