Proposal Abstract
In 2019, 31 artists from around the world took part in a Print Exchange entitled ‘The State Of (2019).’ The exchange was in answer to a question posed by critique Richard Noyce at a printmaking conference about ‘Reinventing the Matrix’ held in Wroclaw, Poland. He asked the audience of artists, ‘What are you doing?’ Specifically in regards to why they make art, and how they are using the medium of print to share knowledge about the world. Each artist picked a social, political or environmental topic related to their country or passions and together created a visual testament to the state of the world in 2019. There have been a total of 12 exhibits curated internationally. Therefore the answer to the question, was that this group of artists is using print to speak truthfully and explicitly about the epoch in which they are living. Using print as a visual history of thought.
