Proposal Abstract
As described in my Exhibition proposal (‘In 2006, I found an empty portfolio partially buried in a Dundee basement. Aware that the graphic on the front of the folio was a Paolozzi…’), this Illustrated Talk will look at the production of new prints created, the new folio made, and the influence of Eduardo Paolozzi and Kepla Studios, and the artists involved.
‘AS IS WHEN’ is considered the first major masterpiece of screenprinting. It provides a quick overview of the collaboration between Kepla Studios, Master Printer Chris Prater and Eduardo Paolozzi, which will show the lasting influence continuing through to the present day.
Also, the project ‘AS IS WHEN / THIS IS NOW’ has inspired new bodies of work from several artists, most notably Arthur Watson who has shown a selection of works at the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) while he was President of the RSA.
This 20-minute talk will be illustrated with the prints created for ‘AS IS WHEN / THIS IS NOW’, as well as Paolozzi’s images for ‘AS IS WHEN’, and some others of interest.
