Artist Biography
An artist, master printer and educator, Chunwoo Nam received an MFA from the
State University of New York at Buffalo, a BFA from the University of Hong-Ik in
Korea and studied at Tamarind Institute of Lithography, Albuquerque, New
Mexico. He has exhibited nationally and internationally and received numerous
awards including: ’Grand Award,’ The 16th Space International Print Biennial,
OCI Gallery, Seoul, Korea; ’The Second Prize,’ the Clemson National Print and
Drawing Exhibition, Lee Gallery, Clemson University, Clemson, SC; ’Selection
Committees’s Award; the 2008 Pacific Rim International Print Exhibition,
University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand; ‘Juror’s Award,’ the 2008
Pacific States Biennial, University of Hawaii at Hilo, Hawaii; ’Award of Excellence,’
Art at the X, a national juried competition, Xavier University Art Gallery,
Cincinnati; and ‘The Third Prize’ the 5th Novosibirsk International Graphic
Biennial, Novosibirsk State Art Museum, Novosibirsk, Russia. He has been an
Artist in Residence at Guanlan Print Studio, Guanlan, Shenzhen, China; at the
Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop for two consecutive years, Elizabeth
Foundation for the Arts, New York, NY,; and at Anchor Graphics, Chicago. He was
selected 2006 Artist of New York Print Club presentation, New York, NY. His
prints are included in numerous permanent collections including the Tokyo
Metropolitan Art Museum, Ueno, Japan; National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts,
Taiwan; Museum of Tama University, Japan; Novosibirsk State Art Museum,
Russia; Hass Family Arts Library, Yale University, Smith College; Kennedy
Museum of Art, Ohio University, Athens, OH, Columbia College, Columbia, MO; UB
