Abigail joins the CFPR as part of the ApPEARS (Appearance Printing European Advance Research School) project a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Innovative Training Network (MSCA-ITN), comprising 7 universities/research institutes.bigail will undertake a study to gain improved understanding of the behaviour of inks and paints and to develop methodologies for deposition. She will develop novel methods for structure-based halftoning, adaptively changing the halftone shape and dot size based on the image content and structure, to better mimic a specific surface structure for realistic appearance printing. She will identify structures and patterns of images and surfaces that are connected to the appearance. Developing structure-based halftoning models that incorporate image structures, to better mimic appearance of different surfaces and materials.
